Home Security setting, programming

How in the can someone who's not a road scholar setting cams to start recording individually, I want 5 cams to start and stop at individual times. Is there someone who can spoon feed me from start to finish 1 cam that starts recording at 9pm and finish 6am the next day. Then during a selected day turn on again at 9am to 12pm.

I had this down pat before this new change, its I'd me over...

Details here depend on whether you use Arlo hubs or not, also on the schedules you want for the various cameras.

You can use custom modes, which use the same approach as the old "Library" user interface.

Thanks Steve, is there any decent videos that show us how to program with this new app? This is frustrating for me, might be time to find easier systems to setup schedules with. Anyway, thanks again.

Cam1, 2 and 3 - start monitoring from 9pm to 5:50am daily.

On Wednesday and Thursday and Saturday on from 9am-12pm.

Cam4 and 5. On 24/7

Easy enough?

There are a couple of ways to do this. Generally I assume that when you are away from home that you will want an easy way to arm the cameras 24/7.

One way is to set up Arm Away and Arm Home to have rules that arm all 5 cameras. Then set up Standby to arm cameras 4 and 5, but not cameras 1,2,3.

Then you set up automations that change the modes at the schedule times.

Change the mode to "Arm Home" at 9 pm every day
Change the mode to "Standby" at 5:50 am every day
Change the mode to "Arm Home" on 9 am on Weds, Thurs, Saturday
Change the mode to "Standby" at 12 pm on Weds, Thurs, Saturday

Enable all four of these automations in both Arm Home and Standby Modes, but leave them disabled in Arm Away. Then when you manually switch to Arm Away, the cameras will all be armed 24x7 until you manually switch the mode back to either Arm Home or Standby.

The drawback with the above approach is that you cannot disable cameras 4 and 5 in a single step. You'd need to go into the camera settings (on the device page) and turn those cameras on and off.

If you want the same schedule even when you are away, then you can alternatively set up Arm Home to arm cameras 4 and 5, and leave Standby as it is. Then set up the automations to switch between Arm Away and Arm Home (enabling them in Arm Home and Arm Standby).

The enabling/disabling bit is what many users get wrong. If the automation is disabled in the current mode, then it will not run at the scheduled time. So an automation that switches from Arm Home to Standby needs to be enabled in Arm Home.

Like I said, I had this under control with the last app, now they totally stuffed it up for me , I have to remember to enable and disable the cams every day. When I can afford another set of cams, these are getting tossed in the rubbish.

Thanks for all your help, and I bet there are heaps of other people in the same boat as me, and probably already moved on to other systems.
