Safeguarding my privacy from Alexa

I live in a home next door to my landlord. I needed to purchase my Arlo camara for privacy reasons because my home was being entered when I wasn’t home. So I discover on my Arlo app they have an Alexa. I share on their wi-fi and my attempts at securing my own WiFi have been averted because new lines would need to go in. I declined in the app to share my feed, but when reading all that is needed for Alexa to gain access and the notice that they cannot change Amazons policies leaves me feeling I spent all that money for naught. Is there anything I can do to safeguard my privacy?

You'd have to explicitly set up Alexa access from your Arlo account. As long as you don't do that, your landlord will not be able to access your cameras.

You might want to look into mobile broadband. Those services wouldn't require adding new lines, and many offer good connections at a very reasonable price.

But installing new lines shouldn't be that expensive, and really shouldn't be an issue for your landlord. So you could press harder on that. You shouldn't be forced to share the wifi - even though the cameras are secure, it potentially allows the landlord to access other devices you have connected.
