For what this camera cost, the range should be more than 15 feet. I guess Netgear feels the only important area around your home is within a 15 foot radius.

Has anyone determined the outdoor range for Arlo. I can't believe they would make the camera with only a 10 - 15 foot detection range.

( a problem in/of itself )

But to pick up people well the max range is about 15 ft as you stated with the design it is... use that range as max, aim down to avoid sunlight and cars in street... that's it.

Wow, that's really a bummer. While I knew this camera wasn't made to sweep my whole property, I thought I could at least detect people within a 30 ft range. Where I had the camera before, it was focused on an area within 15 feet, but, because of some construction, now I have to move it and I need to have an area covered out to about 30 feet. Guess I need to look for another, better designed and functional camera system.

Prolly not going to find one if you're looking for a wireless camera. There are design constraints and issues with any system that will take trial and error to work around unless you go to a 24/7 powered (and maybe wired) camera.

It will detect out to a longer range, but the problem I mostly see is there is to much field of view ( to much area ) coverage and with this comes the problem of to many false triggers from reflections of IR off of vehicles, windows, trees , etc. In order to have a reasonable number of good valid recordings , esp for people, it has to be less.
