Hi, just installed my arlo cam over my front door, i have the motion senstivity set on 95%. THe only time the motion detects is when someone is about 4 feet away from the front door (coming up the steps) which is only about 20% of the camera frame. See picture below. How can I improve this? I really want it to record when someone pulls into my driveway!

Can't see the snap yet. A better way is to use the library to view, click the share icon and copy/paste the link here. Then there's no lag.

The usual problem is too much scene in the view. Limit it to only the actual area of interest. Also, ensure that motion is across the FOV, not at the camera.

Then there's no lag.

I don't agree that's the better option. The link would only last as long as the poster's subscription plan keeps a video alive. Once time goes past that point, we end up with a posting without a video or screenshot. Not helpful for late viewers.

Posting directly to the forum is better, because it lasts indefinitely. It's just that a moderator is needed to authorize each and every image posted. Since it's the weekend, we'll have to wait til Monday for the image to show.

Best is probably to do both, so that both immediate and late viewers are served. Instead of a video, one can also save a screenshot to one's library by going into live view and pressing the camera icon in the live picture. That will save just one frame to the library from where it can be shared.

After looking at the picture... I'd lower the camera a small amount to eliminate the front street...

As to the driveway, it is kind of far as I've really found the PIR senses best at about a max of 20ft ( unless there is a high level of IR reflection like car glass ).

If you want to cover the driveway, Have you thought about putting on in the tree ( far side of driveway) aimed down at the driveway ?? ( cause front door one isn't prob going to work well ).

As to improve the front door, try this trick;

Use pan/zoom and reduce the view size by about 15%. Now move the view around so you still maintain the front steps and sidewalk.

It will appear to start recording sooner as the PIR covers the whole FOV but the pan/zoom has shrunken the actual view.... it should start to record a few more feet out.

picture appears to be working now.

The tree is not an option unforuatnely - its my neighbors and its a huge red oak - would be hard to climb up.

I will try to pan/zoom and see if that helps at all

thanks
