After making a lot of adjustments, this is what is working for me . . . If you think of the camera as a human eye, it seems to detect activity that enters its perifrial vision better than activity directly in front of it. To decrease the field of vision (to cover a specific area) angle it downwards and make adjustments to the heighth. Again, it's like your eye, so adjust the camera position like you would your head if you were trying to look at something the same distance from the object as your camera. Pardon the rude graphics below . . .

                               T

        H wwwwwwwwwwwwwwww S

My camera is in a tree (T). H is the house, W is the pavered walkway, S is the street. The camera/tree is about 17 feet from the walkway, the camera is mounted about 10 ft off the ground. The camera is angled downward so the walkway is in the upper quarter of the picture. With sensitivity set at 100%, the camera will detect motion as soon as something enters its field of vision to the extreme right or left, and any activity in between those two points.

I do get a number of alerts for non eventful movements during the day light hours if I leave it at 100%. Since I use the outdoor cameras for monitoring only, I either reduce the sensitivity and/or cancel notifications. Events will still be recorded and you can view them later.

A side note: After spending far too much time trying to hide the camera in bird houses, etc., I found an old brown sock the same color as the tree bark, cut off the foot and inserted the magnetic mount (with camera attached) in it, and made a small hole to slip the mount onto the screw. Since the sock fit loosely around the front of the camera, I slid the other part of the sock over the whole thing to hold in on tighter. Everything except the front of the camera is covered. I can hardly spot the camera and my husband couldn't find it at all.

Camera in small front yard will not detect foot traffic on sidewalk 12-15 feet away, but detects vehicle traffic in street, which is technically beyond the distance for detection/recording. I have made multiple adjustments to sensitivity and camera placement as recommended, to no avail. Anyone have a remedy for this?

If possible , post a screen shot or pic of setting or snapshot

Sound like you covering to much area, try and angle the camera down a bit.

I had the same problem but repositioned the camera downward to the sidwalk w/ a clear view, approx 12' in the air. But now, after playing w/ the sensitivity repeatedly, I get, recordings w/out anything in the frame [no movement] every 2 to 5 minutes & yet it won't record when someone walks down the sidewalk [moving laterally in the frame as it is point downward. I set the sensitivity to 100 & it records when a person walks down the walkway about 40 to 50% of the time. But I get about 70 recordings every 8 hours of no activity. when I set the sensitivity lower, I get gradually fewer 'nothing' recordings but do not get any recordings of people passing into the frame. I have moved the camera a few times & repositioned w/ no improvement.

Also, at night, even at 100% sensitivity, I get no recordings of people & fewer recordings of 'nothing'. I've about had it w/ this.
