For some reason, my camera is only turning on when I am less than a foot away from it. It will capture me right in front of it then will not capture anything else until I am super close again. Is there a setting I need to adjust?

There is a sensitivity setting on the camera settings. The higher the settings the more the recordings. You may want to check the angle of your camera. Keep in mind that the motion detecting technology does far better when the object crosses the beam at an angle versus going directly head on into the camera. Also you want to make sure the camera is pointed (aimed) in a downward direction. If it's level or high the motion sensor is actually looking over the object making it far less sensitive.
