I have never received a low battery warning in the 8 months I have been using Arlo. The camera just goes offline. Is this a known issue?

You should receive low battery alerts regardless of the plan you are on. Are you getting any email from Arlo (motion detection e-mail alerts)? Be sure you have verified your email address in your Arlo account. Also check to make sure your email provider has not blacklisted Arlo emails.

It's time to
replace the batteries in:

        <Name_Of_Camera>: 15%

You've still got a little juice left, but in order to
maintain uninterrupted peace of mind, we
recommend installing new batteries as soon as you can.

The cloud is the servers your Arlo system connects to and stores library content. If your system is working, you are connected to the Arlo cloud.

The Cloud is a synonym for a lot of things, predominantly storage. Ie. storage that is holding your personal files on a server hundreds, sometimes thousands of miles away.

In context with Arlo the cloud saves your videos your Arlo cameras record.

In context with the email notification, the cloud gets “notified“ by your cameras when they run low on battery power, and in turn sends an email message to you, ie. it's not your camera directly that sends you the email, it's some computer program running in the cloud triggered by a low battery level in your cameras.

You'll be able to log in from multiple devices. There are Arlo apps for Android and iOS devices. And then there is web access via http://arlo.netgear.com. Register there first, then connect your Arlo base station to your router and power it up.

It's been a little too long for me to remember all the steps in detail, but basically you need to be logged in to your account when the base station is switched on. You'll then see your base station's ID, you need to click on that to link it to your account.

(You may not always want all cameras to be armed at all times).

You can use the default modes Armed and Disarmed, and use them to quickly turn on and off all your cameras, but they are a limiting since you can't exclude certain cameras from being armed.

So, to create a mode, go to the Mode tab and at the bottom of the page click on the Add a Mode button. The rest is pretty self-explanatory. You then proceed to create at least one rule for each camera you want to be active in the mode you're creating.

For any additional combinations of cameras you want to be active at a time, you need to create another mode.

For instance, if you have four cameras, and you have two outside and two inside, and you would want your inside cameras to be armed only when you're out of the house, you'd create two modes:

Mode #1: Create (at least) one rule for each camera. Call this mode Away (or something similar).

Mode #2: Create (at least) one rule for each camera that is outside, but no rules for your inside cameras. Call this mode At Home.

Now, when you're home, you activate the mode At Home and when you leave the house, you activate the mode Away.

You have the option of automatically scheduling the mode changes if you are home and away at predictable times. To do this you would edit the schedule and place your desired modes on the schedule depending on when you're home and when not. The schedule is configurable for each day of the week and repeats every week. After setting up your schedule you would activate the Schedule and the system would automatically switch the modes for you at the times you programmed in. Any time you deviate from the schedule, you'd manually activate the applicable mode, in effect overriding the Schedule. When you're back "on schedule" again, reactivate the Schedule.

I have 3 arlo cams, all with the latest firmware

2 of my cameras died, and i never received low battery warnings.

When I tested one of them by taking the batteries out then reinserting them, only then once did I receive a low battery warning

but never before they died. They just turned off one day and said they were offline.

Not sure what is going on because I check the cameras multiple times a day by logging in Arlo (not activating the cameras or turning them on, but checking the status)

Always shows 4 bars on the batteries then literally a few hours later they're dead.

Check the batteries and they seem ok (it's not cold outside either) but not enough to power up.

When I test the strength on my basic battery tester, it says they are in the "normal range" but they cams only seem to work when batteries in the "high" range are inserted.

Put in a fresh set of batteries and they work fine and have been for the last week

Not sure if the Arlo won't work unless batteries are fully charged but I'm using the Energizers that came with them

Nevertheless, I don't get any warning before the cams shut off. Seems like they go from 100% to 0% in minutes.

I thought maybe I have the setting off and am not receiving the alert.

I read the manual and it talks about going into the settings area to low battery notification

I have no such thing when I login online to arlo or use my iphone app

Not sure If I'm not lookign in the right place (I'm in settings but i have no "preferences" button under "System"

I only have Camera Order, Help, and About.

DId they update something to take that away? Or is the default now to always email you and you can't adjust it.

nevertheless, the notification must be turned on because I did get that email once (again only when I was reinserting the "dead" batteries)

just not sure:

1. why I don't get notifications when the batteries are low

2. Why I can't see where I can adjust those notifications in the Arlo App or when I login online

And yes, I've checked my spam and my email is correct because i get the motion alerts via email all the time without fail.

Thanks

My notifications for low battery power are sporadic too. Both with one-use Energizers and rechargeable NiteCores.

And, yes, they did update the UI (and not the manual correspondingly). There is no longer a setting to turn the low-battery notification on or off. It's now always on, not user-configurable.

I receive the low battery email, but usually too late to replace the batteried before they run out completely.

I look at the Arlo Devices screen at least once a day, but that display always seems to show a fully charged battery icon until I get the low battery notice (2%).

The Settings page has a link to each camera and a percentage readout on the battery. It would be great to have that percentage figure shown on the Devices screen so I wouldn't be surprised by the sudden warning. There are too many clicks required to inspect each camera's status via Settings.
