How do I create a mode to activate motion detection on a schedule.

I have one arlo pro camera. How do I create a mode to activate motion detection on a schedule. I have set up a schedule for the camera to be armed at specific times for each day, however the motion detection is not active.

As you've just mentioned, you need to create a new mode with the cameras you want operating and how you want them to operate.

Once you have that, you can add it to the schedule

Very strange that ARMED doesn't have active motion detection. You may need to edit the mode and see what the options for each camera are showing
