After spending 300$ I now have a system that only says "please wait" while trying to view live

is there a way to fix this or did I just get ripped off

What device are you trting to use to view...PC, ios, android ?

If PC, it may be a simple as changing browsers...I happen to think Fire Fox is working the best right now. ( IE> 10, Chrome, FF )

Ok, there is no app, but can you use a diff browser than default... many of these issues are related to browsers and flash at times.
