Curios Behaviour Of Geofencing

Since setting up my system this past weekend, I have been using Geofencing to arm my system when I leave home. Other that one glitch, its working very well.

Last night, I just happened to notice that on my iPhone, in Settings -> Arlo, the Location In/Out Notifications was turned off. This is very curious as the geofencing has been working. I turned it on and ran a test. Here's what I found.

With that option turned off and I leave home, I get the notification on my iPhone: Geofencing at Home is now away mode. When coming back, I get the notification: Geofencing at Home is now home mode.

With the option turned on, I get two messages when I leave home:

You have left the Home Geofencing Zone

followed by

Geofencing at Home is now away mode.

Coming back home, I get these two messages:

You have entered the Home Geofencing Zone.

followed by

Geofencing at Home is now home mode.

My question is, what is the advantage in turning on the Location In/Out Notifications setting if geofencing works with it turned off? Evidently, getting the geofencing away/home notifications is not dependent on that setting.
