topic Arlo wire free Motion Detection based on camera position in Features

I tried looking quickly through the posts but couldn't find my answer not sure if someone could help out or not.

I just purchased the Arlo wire free system and installed. Because of the brackets, and where I want to put them, I have had to mount the cameras upside down and invert the image. But I am noticing that motion detection is working better from a distance then it is up close. Does the position of the camera (upright or upside down) affect the motion detection at all? Or perhaps my cameras are mounted to high. Ones at about 10ft and it's not to bad, the other is at about 15 feet and will detection motion 30 feet away but not 5 feet away from the wall it's mounted on.

Any advice?
Thanks in advance.

The PIR sensors tend to be more sesistive at the edges so cross motion works better... being inverted makes less of a difference.

The proble i think is that you view is to much. I find for people, the range is more like 15 ft or so...try aming them down a bit to eliminate the range.

If not, you may have to lower the tall one.

Alright I'll try aiming it a bit lower. I figured that was the case. I could likely capture everything I want with it being lower and have no issues but I also worry about someone trying to steal the camera haha. I guess if they need to be lower, hopefully they do their job if someone does try that.

Actually while I'm at it, here is a picture of that camera. It had a hard time activating anything other then cars driving on the road. Does not pick up people walking on the side walk at all and barely catches anyone in the driveway

unfortunately the Arlo cams like to pick up cars ( as they are a large source of IR reflection, etc.

As the picture shows, IMO, the PIR works better for people at about 15 ft max...and it's what aprox 25 ft to sidewalk, 35 to road.

I would lower it and then also cut down on the field of view by lowering the aim...do it with a temp mount and test ( duc tape over mount, etc ) to see if it helps.

It is a trial and error process
