Need Help with Scheduling/Modes/Automation for camera and doorbell

Need Help with the following! I need clear specific instructions and screen shots because right now I am about to return these! The old way of setting up Arlo Schduling and Modes and Automation was very easy now its hours!

For the Arlo Essential Outdoor Camera ( 2nd Gen - VMC3050) I want to have schedule the camera to ARM HOME the home 7:00PM and the camera to STAND BY at 6:00 AM, with the option during the day time to manually select ARM AWAY or ARM HOME during those time.

ASSUMPTION:, Should I select ARM AWAY or ARM HOME, will I have to manually change it back to STAND BY and it will then revert to the scheduled time?

DOOR BELL:

For the Arlo Essential Video Doorbell ( 2nd Gen - AVD4001) The doorbell is hardwired. I would like it to be ARMED AWAY all of the time with the option to manually select STANDBY as needed.

Not quite. Cameras are either armed or disarmed. ARM AWAY, ARM HOME, and STANDBY are system modes that affect every camera in the system. By default, ARM AWAY and ARM HOME will arm both the camera and the doorbell, and STANDBY will disarm both.

So to restate what you want on the schedule:

The VMC3050 is disarmed between 6 am and 7 pm, and armed from 7 pm to 6 am.
The AVD4001 is armed all the time

On the manual selection - Do you ever want to disarm the doorbell but leave the camera armed? Or is it ok to disarm the camera whenever the doorbell is disarmed?

To respond to your first message,

I want the option for the camera during the stand by time 6am-7pm 5to manually turn on if I leave.

I want for the doorbell to stay on all the time ( with the option to put in “stand by” ) and then turn it back to arm home or arm away.

I wanted to create a schedule 6am to 7pm for the camera because are outside a lot. And didn’t want it going off.

my old Arlo Pro it was easy to set the schedules and to be able to activate different cameras manually if you wanted one on and others to remain off until the schedule kicked on or off

Each mode defines a set of cameras that are armed when that mode is used. Don't think of one camera being in "Arm Home" mode with the other being in "Standby" at the same time. The entire system (both the camera and the doorbell) is in "Arm Home" mode or "Standby".

With a camera and a doorbell, you have four combinations:

doorbell and camera armed
only the doorbell armed
only the camera armed
neither the doorbell nor camera armed.

But you only have three modes to work with, so you need to drop one combination.

(ignoring manual changes)

The VMC3050 is disarmed between 6 am and 7 pm, and armed from 7 pm to 6 am.
The AVD4001 is armed all the time

Looking just at the schedule (ignoring manual changes)

The VMC3050 is disarmed between 6 am and 7 pm, and armed from 7 pm to 6 am.
The AVD4001 is armed all the time

This part can be done with just two modes:

Set up "Arm Away" to arm both the camera and the doorbell
Set up "Arm Home" to just arm the doorbell.

Then create two schedule automations:

Switch to "Arm Home" at 6 am
Switch to "Arm Away" at 7 pm

Then you can manually switch to "standby" when you want to disarm the camera and the doorbell.

When you leave during the day, you can also switch manually to "Arm Away". But the schedule would still be active, so the system will switch back to "Arm Home" the following morning at 6 am. If you don't want that to happen (for example if you are going away for several days), then you'd also need disable the schedule automations, and then re-enable them when you return.

If you need more specific instructions post back (I have limited internet at the moment, so it might take a few days for me to reply).

Hi there, I am back! And yes... I still have some questions about the information you provided me!

B. Set up "Arm Home" just to arm the doorbell - the screen would Display "1 Camera" (Doorbell) > Device Rules would display only the doorbell listed

C. In "Standby" do I still need to have both cameras set up to show on Display "2 Cameras" so both cameras are listed on the Device Rules screen?

Next Schedules: Are you saying I need to add a schedule for the following examples you provided only? Also, when creating these schedules, assuming it is doing the listed "CAMERAs" in each of the "Modes"

1. Switch to ARM HOME at 6:00 am - Do I only set up one schedule for ARM HOME? 6 AM every day of the week and then for the "ACTION" what do I select? Select "Change MODE" and choose which mode will be triggered? What would it be?

2. Same question would also be for Switch to ARM AWAY at 7:00 am what are the steps.

No. You'd use Standby to disarm both cameras, so you don't want any rules in the Standby mode.

The action is to change mode to ARM HOME. Because that is the mode that only arms the doorbell.

Similarly at 7 pm you change the mode to ARM AWAY, because that is the mode that arms both cameras.

Still having issues with scheduling. Below are the areas I desperately still need help with. Thank you!

Scenario: The VMC3050 (Camera) disarmed between 6 am - armed at 7 pm

The AVD4001 (Doorbell) armed all of the time.

In MODES

I have set up "ARM AWAY" for both the camera and doorbell .

"ARM HOME" only the doorbell

In "STAND BY" NO devices are set up

AUTOMATIONS > SCHEDULES

There are 2 schedules created: . On the "EDIT Schedule" There are TWO (2) schedules set up.

Schedule 1 : 7 PM Everyday

(At the top of the app EDIT SCHEDULE page) Home 7:00 pm > ARM AWAY (IS THIS SELECTION for "ARM AWAY"CORRECT)?

SCHEDULE> WHEN > 7:00 pm Everyday THEN> ARM AWAY / SEND NOTIFICATION

Schedule 2: 6am, Everyday

(At the top of the app EDIT SCHEDULE page) Home 6:00 am > ARM AWAY (IS THIS SELECTION for "ARM AWAY" CORRECT)?

SCHEDULE> WHEN > 6:00 am Everyday THEN> ARM HOME / SEND NOTIFICATION

BACK IN THE "MODES"

In "ARM WAY Settings" > ARM AWAY DEVICE RULES

I have BACK and DOORBELL with Device rules

BELOW IN the "AUTOMATIONS" section

It displays HOME 7:00 pm and HOME 6:00 am which and BOTH are selected. IS THIS CORRECT?

In ARM HOME

Device RULES the DOOR BELL is listed

BELOW in the "AUTOMATIONS" section

NEITHER HOME 7:00PM or HOME 6:00am are selected. IS THIS CORRECT???

In STANDBY

NO Device Rules are added. In the "AUTOMATIONS" Neither HOME 7:00 pm or Home 6:00 am are selected.

No, this is NOT correct. Did you read my earlier post? You want both the schedule automations to run when the system is either in Arm Away or in Arm Home mode.

So at the top of both the schedule automations you want "ARM AWAY, ARM HOME". This will result in the Automation section for both ARM AWAY and ARM HOME showing "Home 7:00 pm and "Home 6:00 am" selected.

YES! I have read your information which is not really understandable for me. Sorry! I am exhausted. I took screen shots and tried to download them and it didn't work. In my past life I wrote system processes and did system testing which I was trying my best to provide the scenarios to you without pictures. I will get with someone in Support next week and hopefully they will be able to help me than send me the "how to's" do them. My old arlo programming was way easier than this! Have a great day!
