I've been an ARLO user for a number of years - I have five Pro 2 cameras and two Base Stations (VMB3500r4 and VMB4500r2) using a free 7-day storage plan. All cameras are mounted outside with all but one powered by charging cables with the micro-USB connection. I was planning on replacing my driveway camera with the Essential 2K 2nd gen - since it has a USB-C connection, I planned on using a micro-USB to USB-C adapter so I wouldn’t have to do a rewire job. is the Essential 2K 2nd gen camera compatible with either of the Base Stations? Will it's videos be saved for 7 days as my Pro 2 videos are? will the micro-usb to usb-c adapter work ok to keep it charged? Do you know any reason this substitution won't work as I've described?

Two to three major hurdles.

Any camera newer than the pro2 requires a subscription plan to record to the arlo cloud storage service, they are also not compatible with the VMB3000 series base stations.

Any 2nd generation camera or the arlo pro5 Cameras requires the arlo new experience UI app to be loaded that is rated as a failure by the average user. Note: No option to revert back from arlo.

The 2nd generation devices have only recently been made compatible with the arlo base stations excluding the above mentioned 3000 series base so firmware update is required which has been problematic for arlo.
