If the wifi signal is weak at the camera location(s), then it would be good to impvove it. That can be done with an extender, or alternatively by switching to a mesh router system.

Not sure if that will reduce lag, but it will make capturing motion events more consistent, and it will improve battery performance.

I suggest measuing the wifi speed using your phone at the camera location. Use the Ookla speedtest app. Upload speed actually matters more than download speed.
