Does the base need to be plugged into the router? My internet company added a new box to my router and plugged the VMB4500 into it instead of the main router, now my base keeps going off several times a day showing a blinking yellow light. I have Armstrong internet they added a TP link

Theoretically, this should work fine but...

It would seem that you needed more Ethernet ports than the router supplies. If so, what was added was a switch to add more ports. Make sure all cables are fully plugged in. You could also (potentially) move one Ethernet cable from the router (NOT the one to the switch) to the switch and plug the base into that newly-freed port on the router.

Exactly what "box" did they add (manufacturer and model)?

did you try plugging the VMB4500 back into the router?
