Nothing is impossible but it's unlikely unless you use weak passwords. How is the camera connected - to your WiFi or to a hub? Your Arlo account needs both a strong password as well as 2FA (two-factor authentication) and your WiFi also needs a strong password. If connecting to a hub, the connection is encrypted between the hub and camera and the hub's WiFi can't be logged into.

What exactly is your concern?

@jguerdat wrote:

Nothing is impossible but it's unlikely unless you use weak passwords.

The account (and your home wifi) are password protected. But even if those passwords are compromised, a hacker should not be able to hack into the camera itself (or the smarthub).

Compromising your wifi in and of itself won't result in a bad guy being able to access the cameras. But they could potentially hack into your PC, and reach the cameras using my.arlo.com. And of course potentially access bank accounts, etc.

Of course if the Arlo account password is compromised, they could still access recordings, livestream the cameras, and potentially share them to a different account. So you should use a strong password, and if there is any evidence of a compromise you should either change the password, or delete the account and start over.

Like @jguerdat, I wouldn't say that hacking the camera or base hardware is impossible. But we have not seen any credible reports here of either being hacked.
