topic High Network Latency in Arlo Essential Wire-Free Cameras

When my Go2 camera is plugged in and streaming over wifi, ping time is where it should be - 2ms, sustained. When not streaming, yowza, ping time jumps to over a 1000 ms, with frequent spikes to 2 seconds. I see no way on the current version of the product or control software to disable this likely 'energy-saver' option. Open to your suggestions, thanks!

Correct, there is no way to disable this.

Why is this a concern?

There is good reason to minimize network latency whenever possible.

In my case, the device is very near to an access point, and yet I am seeing erratic network performance whenever the camera is not in session.

I love the option of having LTE as a contingency, but I was also hoping it was paired with a very strong wifi candidate.

In this specific case, the cause is not related to your network. The extended ping time is simply because the camera is in a low power state.

"Solving" it would result in the battery draining much faster.

So IMO, no "good reason" for this particular device.

Understood, I appreciate your opinion, as this likely makes sense for many consumers.

But I was really hoping for options beyond the consumer model, more understanding that there might be circumstances where a user DOES know what he is doing and could choose what was best for his circumstance. I think most appreciate choices.

Oh well.
