What firmware are you running? Are you asking if the new update (1.2.0.0_275_250) allows for the tone upon button press or saying your Audio Doorbell does not do this with the new update installed?

I’ve done everything I can think of to update the firmware, but so far no luck. Rebooted the base 5 times. Removed and reinstalled the doorbell 5 times, removing the batteries and repowering each time. My firmware is stuck at .1.2.0.0_261_229, and the iOS app says “no firmware updates available”

Have you tried to reset the doorbell by pressing the button on the back for 10 seconds/light will blink 3 times. Then setup as new. If the firmware does not download automatically upon reset it may have to be pushed from the servers automatically at roughly 3 am PST.

Yes I’ve held the reset/sync button the back of the doorbell for 10-12 sec until the ring flashes brightly several times when setting it up as new. My attempts on updating have been going on for several weeks, hoping it might update overnight. Still no luck.

Shayne,
Yes I’ve called. Have a case number. Absolutely horrible communication over the better part of an hour. “I guess you will have to wait for the day of the update” was the final solution from the representative after many powering on, off, resyncing, removal, re-add, etc. The strong Indian accent was challenging to understand, as I guess my accent was to her.
Shayne,
One more thing. The Arlo online “specialist” kept referring to the Arlo doorbell as “the camera”. Annoying. Also, she did not seem to understand my desire to update the firmware for “audible feedback” of a successful button push. I finally had to ask her to read the second item in the firmware release notes, but I still don’t think she understood. And this was the “second tier” representative. Her lack of knowledge of the Arlo doorbell product was painfully obvious.

Yes two way talk works, the doorbell activates my Arlo chime and Arlo Pro2 camera which is linked. The doorbell successfully calls my phone, and there is a doorbell recording in the library for the call. Everything works except the firmware update, so there is no acknowledgement chirp upon button press. I hit the “solution” button on this post by mistake, and there is no way to edit, be assured I still have no solution.

@bscardin wrote:
Mine has never made any sort of button acknowledging tone at all. Sigh. Maybe I do need to just return this thing.

I just connected an Arlo Doorbell, I purchased a week or two ago. Although there is a delay, the doorbell button does give an audible confirmation of the button press after some period of lag. However, it is some sort of acknowledgement.

Like some other posters here, I was also surpised that the Arlo Doorbell needs batteries even when it is connected to an existing powered doorbell wire. I know doorbells are often poorly wired and have variable voltages, so perhaps Arlo was looking for fewer installation problems and to avoid installing extra components required for voltage regulation on a variable power source.

There is a delay of several seconds from button press to the call to my phone. Basically, it is button press...tick...tick..tick...button tonal acknowledgement of the button press ... tick...tick..then a call to my phone.

I also found the verbal instruction to press the doorbell again to leave a message, rather ambiguous. Do I press it once and then just start talking? (answer = yes) Will it give me an audio cue as to when I should start talking after I do the second press? (answer= No). Do I need to press it again after I'm done talking? (answer = no). Will it stop recording by itself? (answer = yes, though I think it is s fixed 30 second recording...not VOX activated)

I noticed the white circular LED flashes when I walk by even then I have motion alerts turned off. Also, there doesn't appear to be setting for motion sensitivity, so I guess, the idea of covering the sensor with black tape, is i a good one if you don't want motion detection and you want longer battery life. I was shocked that the motion detection on the doorbell doesn't appear in the rule area for the cameras. What an unfornate miss. I would think, doorbell motion detection would be a good trigger for camera rules and a great solution for people who want additional motion sensors on an Arlo system without deploying extra cameras.
