It would work but it's not as simple as just looking at your phone. You'd need to start the app and click on live view, which takes a few seconds to start. If a 10-20 second process isn't a problem, this should be fine.

The base station simply plugs into the router you already have - no need for yet another one. The base station could be thought of as a router but only for the cameras.

I live in a 3-story condo. I have a very small front porch. If someone is at the front door, I want to know who it is before I run down all the stairs. For example, if it is just UPS delivering a package, I don't need to go down. I'm thinking of getting 1 Arlo to do this. I don't care about recording or sound, I just want to be able to look at my iPhone or laptop and see who is there. Will this work for me?

I live in Hawaii, so the reported problems of the camera not working in cold weather should not be an issue for me. 😉 But we do have a lot of humidity. Will this be a problem?

Also, I'm a bit confused by the router. I already have a wi-fi router. Does the Netgear router plug into that one? Or where does it go?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.
