The OP states 100-150 yards. Under ideal conditions the Arlo wire-free cameras are designed to work with a clear line of sight up to 300 feet as you state above. So if the gate is on the closer end of the estimate the camera may be close enough to work but there are variables such as interference and obstructions between the base and the camera to keep in mind, as you've mentioned. It may take some trial and error during setup.

wanting to install these at my home.. Would like to put one at my gate. My gate is I'm guessing approximately 100-150 yards from my house. Any suggestions on how to make this work? I guess you could piggy back to base stations, but one would have to be outside with power. If it was enclosed in a clear weather tight box so you still had line of site to camera. would this work? or any other suggestions?

also, to confirm, you can monitor a room "live" to see what is going on. you dont have to wait for motion to trigger a camera?

thanks!

Assuming you won't have too many structural obstructions between house and gate, you should be fine.

also, to confirm, you can monitor a room "live" to see what is going on. you dont have to wait for motion to trigger a camera?

Definitely. You can watch any camera live at the press of an on-screen button. You can even record manually and take still shots. Live view will automatically end after 30 minutes, but you can restart it again, if you wanted to. At that length, though, battery life won't be very long.

Honestly, I don't think its going to work. The best distance I've manage to obtain is a bit over 175-180 ft ( arlo base in the house so it's never clear line of sight ) without trying crazy things. ( I did get more than 300 ft but only with the Arlo camera at the center of a parabolic antenna for gain )

The best distance you've managed to obtain is 175-180 ft with the base in the house and yet you say a distance of 100-150 that the OP mentioned is NOT? going to work?

Something is off here.
